Our Mission
About Uganda Empowers
Uganda Empowers is a non-profit organization that educates, counsels, and provides resources to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Our area of coverage is the Lwengo district, primarily the Kyazanga, Malongo, Lwengo and Ndagwe sub-counties. These communities are targeted because they are rural, remote, and hard-to-reach. Basic services and resources are scarce.
Uganda Empowers also works to eradicate the stigma and discrimination attached with HIV/AIDS. We use the performance arts – music, dance, and theater – as a tool to educate and uplift the communities that we serve.
Uganda Empowers’ Objectives
- HIV Testing and Treatment Referrals, Counseling, and Prevention – We work to fight the spread of HIV and to support those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Empowering Children – We provide basic care for orphans and other vulnerable children that have been affected by HIV/AIDS. This includes providing health care, education supplies, counseling, and self-improvement activities for children.
- Combating Poverty – We develop sustainable ways for individuals in rural regions to earn income.
- Environment Conservation – We promote the conservation of the environment with renewable energy.
